The production team conducted two interviews in Los Angeles. The first was with writer/architectural historian David Naylor who is a consultant to our film. He is the author of several books on movie theatre design and history, the best known being American Picture Palaces, and Great American Movie Theatres. He was also a consultant to the Smithsonian documentary film, The Movie Palaces, aired on PBS.
Day two of our filming in LA found us in the home of film critic and cinema historian/writer Leonard Maltin. Mr. Maltin talked about his lifelong love of movie palaces and their continued importance to our culture and our rapidly disappearing sense of community.
